365 - Day 87

Today I demoed drape pots in my clay class.  It is one of my favorite assignments.  They also make 5 "rattles" or pods to put in them.  I decided to use dollies, which I just so happened to get this weekend when I went to Dennis's grandma's house, they were cleaning and were going to throw them out!  Crazy!  I also used yarn for some texture on the inside!  Can't wait to see it glazed!

Enjoy!

365- Day 81

I have decided that I love op art- especially on the computer!  I have no idea how they did it before Photoshop, but they did!  I have been doing geometric examples and organic examples and than I will post a video on how they are created on Youtube for my Photoshop classes.  Today I played around with the organic art I had created yesterday- I added some of the geometric filters I ran yesterday to them and LOVE  what I came up with.  I have no idea how the wave filter works, but I love it!!!!!!

365 Day 75 and 80

For day 75 I create a metal bracelet with Stazon Ink and Alchohol Inks- Very fun, the pictures doesn't do it justice!

For Day 80- I am no in love with my collage/painting.  I think I would do a smaller collage with magazines and my stencil moved so bummer!

365-Day 73

Today I decided to do a digital drawing using my Ipad.  I downloaded Meritum Paint app when I got my ipad and I have had fun messing around with it!  Last night I saved one!  I think my students will LOVE playing with this app on the smart board so I will have to see if I can get it on Google Chrome!

Enjoy!

365- Day 72

Yesterday I created this piece of art, I ran across a tutorial on Pinterest for lettering and really liked it.  We had been creating value drawings in drawing and design and I was just talking about scribble values and thought this would be a good example of how to do it!

Enjoy!

365 Day 71

My weekend pictures are on my camera at home and I have been waiting to do this blog until I got them off, however the nice weather has forced me to go outside with Monkey and I really haven't had time to get them off, so you get Monday's art and than I will come back to the weekend!

I have been doing alot of examples for class for my art lately and today is no exception.  Our next sketchbook deals with op art and I create about 8 examples on Monday of op art, here is one of my favorites.  I did discover that a 6"x6" piece of paper is a little small to get the whole effect of op art!

365-Day 68

I decided to use one of my favorite photos of Monkey for today's art.  I wanted to do a layered white cut paper silhouette but I changed my mind and decided to do this.  I bit layered, and a bit 3-D, with the dandelion seeds.

Enjoy!!!

365-Day 67 Ode to Dale Chihuly

For about 5 years I have been wanting a great Chihuly project.  I found one on Dick Blick and bought all of the materials and it failed- I even called Dick Blick for help- I have no idea what I did wrong, but it didn't work!

The other day I tons using recycled plastic bottles, and I found one using clear plastic glasses.  I decided to combined them!  The base of my sculpture is a used plastic water bottle cut and melted with my heat gun, the others are clear plastic cups that are actually left over from my wedding!!!  Crazy that I still had some, but they were packed away and I found them when we moved so I have been using them as water cups here at school.

A little sharpie marker, a little heat and some hot glue an I have my very own Chihuly sculpture!  Look out Drawing and Design!

Enjoy!

365- Day 66

I was on pinterest and I found some toilet paper roll art which inspired me to create this piece of art.  I used 2 sheets of 12x12 paper and cut it into 1"x6" strips.  Hot glue again was my best friend!  So I am debating on weither or not to do this with my drawing and design kids or to create a recycled paper bowl with them.  So guess what I will be working on the next few days.........recycled paper bowls!

Enjoy!!!

Did you miss me?

Its been a while......I missed my blog!  But, I have been busy, Saturday we had to go to the last church Dennis did because they forgot something there, so we went shopping in Cedar Rapids.  Sunday I graded LOTS of projects that were all due on Friday, Monday meetings and yesterday I still felt terrible, today I still feel terrible, good thing I am going to the dr today!  So here are your missing days, Sunday's photo is still at home on my camera so I will post that later.

So is a variety of art just for you.  The first one I created for a student whose mother has cancer and she needed a bit of cheering up on Friday, it made her smile!

365- Day 60

More brilliant bokeh!  Classes shot bokeh today, with their point and shoot cameras it was a bit tricky!  2nd hour used the "good" cameras that are the art departments, 7th didn't, which is interesting because 7th hour students are much more perfectionists than 2nd.  So I decided to use a piece of my favorite bottle which broke this year.  I am a bit depressed that I will no longer be able to draw this bottle, I have drawn it every semester since I started teacher here.  It feels like a piece of me!  So, I put it on the floor where the icicle lights were laying and took a pic.

Enjoy!
